Frequently Asked Questions

Carpet Cleaning Frequently Asked Questions

Is steam cleaning the best method?
Hot water steam extraction is still the most preferred method of effectively cleaning your carpets. However, Accredited offers all major carpet cleaning methods and will be happy to advise you.

Do you guarantee removal of all stains?
Unfortunately not because products such as bleach remove carpet dye permanently and spills not treated quickly can also become permanent stains.
Off-the-supermarket-shelf products and inexperienced cleaners also cause permanent stains and irreversible damage.
If we believe a stain is irreversible, we will tell you upfront.

How often should I clean my carpets?
Major carpet manufacturers recommend cleaning at least twice a year. Even carpets that look clean may harbour health hazards and dirt build-up contributes to shorter carpet life. Some carpets might benefit from more frequent cleaning (for instance, those used by young children and pets).

How long will it take for my carpets to dry?
From one hour to two hours. If fast drying is your main priority, low moisture cleaning will leave your carpets dry within an hour.

Do you offer other terms of cleaning?
Yes we most definitely do offer other forms of carpet cleaning.

People say that after carpet is cleaned it re-soils very quickly?
This is only true for carpets ‘cleaned’ by those who rush in and out and do not follow professionally cleaning procedures. We use neutralising chemicals so that your carpet will be left residue free. Not only will your carpet stay cleaner, it will last longer.

Should I have a protector applied to my carpets?
Over the years we have observed that just one permanent stain is enough for most people to realise that protection would have been a good idea.

Do green, eco-friendly products actually clean well?
Our eco-friendly green products clean exceptionally well. If it is necessary to use a more powerful cleaning product, we have other exceptionally effective products that are also safe and non-toxic. (remembering that the toxins in your carpets are and have been tested to be 4 x more toxic than human waste.)

Do you move furniture?
We will move larger items that one person could be expected to move, for example: lounge suites, beds with wheels, or light furniture, tables and chairs.
We will not move any loose items lying around or any heavy item, for example: fish tanks, book cases and china cabinets.

Are you licensed and insured?
Roland, the owner/operator is fully licensed under IICRC and NSW work cover. Our insurance is always up to date. This protects you and us.

Are you a certified cleaning technician?
Yes I am certified under the IICRC. This is not a common question asked but should be. Knowing that only 10% of the industry is trained, you should be asking every cleaner if they are certified. They need to provide their card on site.

What guarantee do you provide?
Your satisfaction is guaranteed – we take pride in providing a professional yet friendly service that totally meets your expectations. Call us for a free quote.

Will you be on time?
We respect that you are busy and for the first appointment of the day we will be on time. For all other appointments we will arrive within the one-hour window. However, some factors are out of our control, and we will contact you if we are running a little late.

Are you a franchise?
We are currently putting together a franchise package. Details will be on our website as soon as possible.

Pest Control Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do my own pest control?
We would have to say no, because Professional Pest Management companies have undertaken extensive training in safe extermination using effective solutions such as IPM (Integrated Pest Management).

What is IPM (Integrated Pest Management)?
IPM uses non-invasive methods to prevent, or at least minimise, the risk of pest infestation. The main principles are monitoring pests, discouraging them by modifying their environment and targeted treatments. This approach has considerable health and safety advantages. Once established it is also likely to be very cost effective.

How safe is your pest management service and chemicals?
We use eco-friendly chemicals safe for humans and the environment and minimize their use by targeting treatments. We focus on non-chemical measures to prevent and eliminate pest infestation. We are a fully insured, registered company.

What is the best method of preventing pest problems?
IPM is the best.

Hard Surface Frequently Asked Questions

Will my tiles crack if I drop a heavy object on them?
Yes, as most tile or stone floors are not resilient. Make every effort to prevent heavy objects from dropping onto floors and consider protecting vulnerable areas.

Can dirt scratch my tiled floors?
Certain types of dirt, such as sand, are abrasive to tiles when walked on. Vacuum your floors as often as possible, put mats at door entrances and keep shoes outside.

How do I clean safely in between your specialised hard surface cleaning?
Avoid using highly abrasive materials such as metal pads. If you do use abrasives, exercise extreme caution, especially on tiles with a shiny surface. These will show up scoring, scratching, and loss of gloss most clearly. Tea tree or Eucalyptus water-based oils are a simple and effective way to keep your floors hygienically clean.

Rug Cleaning Frequently Asked Questions

Can you clean my rugs onsite?
We can professionally clean most rugs in your home. We provide a pickup and delivery service for delicate rugs that require more specialised cleaning.

How much does it cost to have my rug steam cleaned on-site?
Prices vary depending on type and size, and the degree of soiling. We will give you a price on-site and only clean if you agree.

Do you offer off-site cleaning?
We offer a pickup and delivery service for your convenience.

How long does off-site cleaning take?
Cleaning occasionally may take up to two weeks, but usually much less.

How often should I have my rug cleaned?
Your rug will last longer if cleaned professionally at least twice a year depending on soil and traffic wear.

Do you charge for pickup and delivery?
Yes, the price depends on how far we have to travel. We will advise you of the price on confirmation of your booking.

Can you give me some tips on how to look after my rugs in between professional cleans?
Rotate rugs periodically so they get even wear. Vacuum rugs on a regular basis, taking care with the vacuum roller bar on certain rugs.

Do you have insurance for my rugs for the pick-up service?
Yes. Our insurance covers your property when it is entrusted to us for repair, service and storage.

Do you guarantee removal of pet odour?
It depends on the condition of the rug and severity of the odour. We are usually able to remove all pet odours, but we do not guarantee pet odour removal.

How do you clean rugs?
We treat each rug individually, using the professional cleaning method best suited to that particular rug. We will discuss the treatment with you. On average we use a minimum of 10 steps to clean a rug.

What should I do if my rug is damaged from flood or water damage?
Call us as soon as possible. We will come and assess your rug to see if we are able to save it. Quick treatment is often the deciding factor between saving a rug and having to replace it. We will give you an immediate quote and hopefully start saving your rug. If a rug is not dried properly and completely, mould and bacteria are likely to damage it.

Can you apply rug protection?
Most certainly. We also offer carpet + fabric protection.

Water Damage Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do before you arrive?
Remove as much water as possible. Take everything off carpets, including furniture, to prevent further damage. Dyes run and wet furniture will permanently stain your carpets. Place wet upholstery, cushions, etc in a safe, airy place to dry. If possible, open cabinets, room doors and windows to assist with drying. Remove all valuables and objects to a safe place.
Do not use your vacuum to clean up water.

Should I check my items and appliances?
Never do this, you could electrocute yourself. Do not attempt to use ceiling fans or wet appliances. Keep out of rooms where the ceiling has water damage.
Be assured that when you have made an emergency call to us, you will receive supportive and informative service from start to finish. We will work together with you and your insurance representative to ensure a speedy and complete return to normal.

Can I throw away, or have removed, things that are really damaged?
Please do not do this because your insurance company will ask us to sight the damage and take photos. You will not be covered for any items we have not sighted and photographed.

What about my electricity bill if you use drying equipment?
It is essential that the drying equipment installed is used as we direct. The longer the equipment operates the quicker the drying time.

Tile & Grout Sealing Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it important to have my Tile & Grout floor sealed?
Sealing your Tile & Grout floor, (and walls,) is the only way to protect your investment from water-based and oil-based stains. A sealer prevents a spill from penetrating into the porous surface of the floor, and gives you time to clean it up. And clean-ups are a snap! Simply blot fresh spills with a clean cloth or paper towel. The sealer continues to protect, even after repeated cleanings.

How does a sealer protect my floor?
The penetrating sealer is absorbed by the pores of the Natural Stone or Ceramic Tile & Grout. It fills up the “nooks and crannies” so that wet stains cannot get below the surface, and soil sits on the surface until it is swept or wiped away.

How is a sealer applied?
First, the floor is professionally cleaned, neutralized, and fully dried. Then, the sealer is applied using professional equipment and allowed to soak into the flooring material for five to ten minutes. Finally, the excess sealer is buffed off the surface and allowed to dry.

Why is it necessary for a professional to apply sealer? Can’t I do it myself?
Our professionals have the training, experience, tools, and a wide variety of sealers for all types of natural stone, tiles, and grout. Professional application ensures complete protection for the entire surface of the floor. Improper sealing can leave a sticky residue on the surface of the floor that is difficult, if not impossible, to remove.

What do sealers protect against?
A penetrating sealer repels water-based and oil-based liquids, prevents stains caused by most food and beverages; and protects the surface from dirt and impurities.

Does a sealer alter the appearance of a Tile & Grout floor?
No. Our sealers protect without changing the original color, texture, feel, or appearance of the surface. However, we also offer color-enhancing sealers for interior natural stone, marble, granite, limestone, and masonry surfaces.

Is a sealer expensive?
Our sealing programs are affordably priced, and can actually SAVE you money in cleaning and replacement costs.

Do you have different sealers to choose from?
Yes. We have a wide assortment of sealers, designed for a variety of surfaces and conditions. Some sealers are designed for interior use only, others for exterior use. Some protect against water only, others against oil and water. And some are designed specifically for floors with high porosity, such as limestone, slate, brick, and concrete. Our professionals will help you select the most suitable sealer.

How should I maintain my sealed floor?
We will provide you with literature on maintenance, and precautions on choice of cleaning solutions. We offer an excellent line of suitable cleaning products through our company. It is important to use the right cleaning solution, as the wrong type can actually break down the sealer and render it useless.

Will my floor ever have to be professionally cleaned and sealed again?
Yes. We can provide periodic maintenance cleaning and re-sealing to keep your floors in top condition. The frequency will depend on the amount of traffic on them, frequency of spills, etc. Sealers make maintaining your floors much easier and more effective, yet not maintenance free.
